The hours to respect when sending SMS campaigns
Service SMS messages (notifications, validations, etc.) have no restrictions. Marketing SMS campaigns, however, cannot be sent at any time. They are forbidden between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. As well as on Sundays and public holidays. The Ediware SMS platform handles these restrictions automatically and keeps you compliant with the law.
Can the SMS sender name be customised?
Yes, you can display your company name instead of a short code. The sender can be customised up to 11 alphanumeric characters, which is enough to display your brand. How many characters can a professional SMS contain?
A standard SMS contains 160 characters in GSM encoding, which covers letters, digits and common punctuation. If your message exceeds this limit, it is automatically split into several concatenated SMS messages, transparent to the recipient who receives a single message. The count then drops to 153 characters per segment, the remaining 7 characters being used for technical concatenation. Watch out for special characters and accents: some, such as “ê” or “€”, use up two characters. Our platform shows the number of SMS messages used in real time while you write, to avoid unpleasant surprises on the invoice.
Is there a limit to the number of SMS messages sent per campaign?
No, there is no technical ceiling on our platform. Whether you send 500 or 500,000 SMS messages, the infrastructure adapts to the volume. Our direct connections with the French operators allow a high sending throughput, including on large campaigns. In practice, a campaign of 100,000 SMS messages is delivered in a few minutes. For very large or recurring sends, we offer volume packages with decreasing rates.
