Custom development: when standard integrations are not enough

Your CRM needs to synchronise specific data with your emailing platform. Your franchisees have to approve their campaigns before sending. Your ERP has to trigger automatic emails whenever an order status changes. These are concrete needs, and standard integrations, however complete, do not always cover them.

Ediware's custom development service exists for these situations. Since 2002 our technical team has developed and maintained the Ediware emailing platform. It knows every module, every API, every table in the database. When a client has a need that falls outside the standard, the same developers build the solution. No subcontracting, no intermediary.

What our custom developments solve day to day

The requests we receive most often revolve around four broad subjects. Synchronisation with an existing information system, automation of specific business processes, adapting the platform to a multi-site or multi-user organisation, and processing data in particular formats.

CRM and information system integrations

Two-way synchronisation with your contact databases, automatic transfer of emailing behaviour to your CRM — opens, clicks, unsubscribes. SSO authentication so your teams access Ediware with their usual credentials. And custom connectors with your business tools when no standard connector exists.

Advanced marketing automation

Workflows triggered by your contacts' behaviour or by events in your information system. Dynamic segmentation based on your own business criteria, not only on open and click data. Consolidated multi-campaign reporting adapted to your indicators.

Multi-site and multi-user solutions

Sub-account management with differentiated rights, approval workflows before sending, geographic restriction of contact lists, consolidated dashboards for head office. These are frequent needs in franchise networks, multi-brand groups and network marketing organisations.

Complex data processing

Import and export of files in proprietary formats, retrieval and delivery of data on an FTP server, validation and enrichment of databases, generation of personalised documents such as PDFs, certificates or order forms. Deduplication and automated cleaning on business criteria.

The features

  • SSOyour teams access Ediware with their usual credentials
  • FTP serverretrieval and delivery of data
  • PDFcertificates and order forms generated from your data

Four real projects that show what we can do

Service descriptions are all very well. Concrete examples are better. Here are four projects our team has delivered for B-to-B clients.

For a communication agency

The agency runs the email campaigns of several advertisers. The need: sharing contact lists between its clients' sub-accounts, with automatic geographic restriction so each advertiser sees only the contacts in their area. In addition, a unified dashboard lets the agency run all its clients' campaigns from a single interface, without logging in to each sub-account.

For an industrial group

The group needed its emailing platform to talk to its ERP. Every time a product or an order status is updated in the ERP, the data flows automatically into Ediware to trigger the corresponding campaigns. In parallel, the system automatically generates personalised PDFs — certificates and order forms — from the platform's data.

For a franchise network

More than 200 users spread across France. Authentication goes through a centralised SSO, each franchisee logs in with the credentials of their internal system. Before sending a campaign, an approval workflow submits the message to head office for validation. The franchisee creates, head office approves, the campaign goes out. The whole thing works without head office having to log in to 200 separate accounts.

For an e-commerce business

A real-time connector between the client's e-commerce solution and Ediware. With every purchase, abandoned basket or status change, the information flows into the platform. Automatic campaigns are triggered according to purchasing behaviour: basket recovery, post-purchase follow-up, reactivation of inactive customers. All with no manual intervention.

Plugins, not patches: your developments stay compatible over time

This is a subject clients rarely raise up front and that becomes a problem later. What happens when the platform evolves? Do custom developments break at every update?

At Ediware, custom developments are built as plugins. In practice, your specific module is independent of the platform's main code. When Ediware is updated, your plugins keep working. The team that develops the platform is the same one that builds your plugins, and it makes sure of compatibility with every new version.

And maintenance of your custom developments is included in your Ediware subscription. As long as you are a client, your modules are maintained, updated where necessary, and compatible with the platform's evolutions. No separate maintenance package.

Our commitments

  • Pluginsyour module stays independent of the platform's main code
  • Compatibility checkedwith every new version, by the team that develops the platform
  • No separate packagemaintenance is included in your Ediware subscription

What kinds of integration are possible?

What connectsWhat is supported
APIREST, SOAP and Webhooks
File formatsJSON, XML, CSV and Excel
Connection securityHTTPS, key authentication, IP restriction

If your information system communicates through one of these protocols, the integration is technically feasible.

From the free technical audit to going live: a four-step process

1. Free technical audit within 48 hours

You describe your need, our technical team analyses it. Feasibility, constraints, estimate of the development effort. The audit is free and you get an answer within 48 hours. If your project is feasible, you receive a detailed quote with a schedule.

2. Design and specifications

Before coding, we document. Functional and technical specifications, interface mock-ups if the development has a visible part, scope approval. You know exactly what will be built before a single line of code is written.

3. Development and testing

Development follows an iterative approach with regular checkpoints. You see progress and can react along the way, not only at delivery. Tests are carried out on a dedicated environment. Validation is done with your teams before any go-live.

4. Deployment, training and documentation

Secure go-live, training for your users if needed, complete technical documentation. Post-deployment support is included. If an adjustment is needed after go-live, we handle it.

Our commitments

  • Within 48 hoursthe technical audit response
  • Freethe audit, its feasibility check and its effort estimate
  • Dedicated environmenttesting, before any go-live

A day rate of 640 € excl. VAT, with no bad surprises

The average day rate is 640 € excl. VAT. It is a fixed rate, not a range. The estimate of the number of days is established during the technical audit, on the basis of precise specifications. You know the total cost before committing.

The technical audit is free. Maintenance is included in your Ediware subscription. The only costs are the initial development and, if your need evolves, any additional days to develop the module further.

Every project comes with a detailed quote. The more precise your specification, the more reliable the estimate and the more realistic the schedule.

Frequently asked questions about custom development

Do you need a detailed specification to start?

A specification helps, but it is not a prerequisite. If you have a clear idea of your need without having formalised it, the free technical audit is precisely what frames the project. Our team helps you turn your business need into technical specifications.

Is maintenance of custom developments billed separately?

No. Maintenance of your modules is included in your Ediware subscription. As long as you are a client, your custom developments are maintained and compatible with the platform's evolutions. If you want to develop the module further, however, that is additional work.

Is the development done in-house or subcontracted?

In-house, 100%. The technical team that has developed and maintained the Ediware platform since 2002 is the same one that carries out your custom developments. No subcontracting, no external provider.

How long does a custom development project take?

It depends on the complexity. A simple connector can be delivered in a few days. A complete project with SSO, approval workflows and a dashboard can take several weeks. The precise estimate is provided during the free technical audit.

Can the module be developed further after delivery?

Yes. The plugins are designed to evolve. If your need changes, additional development days are estimated and scheduled. The existing base is reused, we do not start from scratch.

Does the technical audit commit me to anything?

No. The audit is free and without obligation. You receive a feasibility analysis, technical recommendations and an effort estimate. You then decide whether you want to launch the project.
